It's unclear if Strongbow was born in Mantricker's time. In 'Blood of 10 chiefs #2: The Phantom of the Berry Patch' he is shown as an adult in Mantricker's time. In 'Wolfrider!', however, he is a young adult, while Bearclaw is chief. And in the first on of the 3 novels Wendy Pini has written she describes Strongbow to be Bearclaw's elder. So, it can be discussed which of the three parts of the story is correct or if all of them tell only a little bit of the true story. Is Strongbow older than Bearclaw and, if not, did he live in Mantricker's reign?

Strongbow is the son of Trueflight and an unknown male, though a name has been mentioned, Bowmaker. It is implied in OQ#14 that Strongbow's father died when Strongbow was young. But it's unknown how and when he died. Same applies to Trueflight.

When Strongbow was young he looked up to Bearclaw, seeing him as a father figure. But never afraid to question his chief when he believed him to be wrong. While we never see Bearclaw and Strongbow really clash, it is said by Moonshade in EQ#14 that she was afraid they would kill eachother. That must mean their clashes were pretty serious. But one thing stands out; Strongbow has always thought very highly of Bearclaw and their relationship was very close.

Strongbow is deeply devoted to his lifemate Moonshade, whom he recognised three (!) times in total, and is one of the most monogamous Wolfriders. He solely communicates with her through sending, which is a sign for their intensely intimate bond. If he talks at all, it's either to a non-sender, or he's so emotionally overwhelmed he can't get his thoughts straight. Sending for Strongbow is like an arrow, swift and straight. Words just muddy things up.

Strongbow and Moonshade's first child, Crescent, is no longer alive. She was killed by humans while she was fishing one night in the river. This was a big emotional shock for the normally composed archer and something that neither he, nor Moonshade will ever forget.

He is extremely proud of his son Dart and shows it. Though he did not agree with Dart staying in Sorrow's End he was still proud of the way his son stood up and even prouder to see his son several years later in the Forbidden Grove when he and the Jack-Wolfriders came to help his parents and his old tribemates. Not much later, after Blue Mountain collapsed he had to deal with Kureel almost killing his son, and him killing Kureel afterwards.

Strongbow and Moonshade's third child is a little girl named Chitter. She probably got the name because she talks a lot. She's very loud, much to the annoyance of both parents, who are known to be pure Wolfriders, silent and calm. Chitter is exactly the opposite. She does not like sending and demands her father to talk-talkto her, not think-talk (sending). And though one would imagine it to be an effort for Strongbow, it seems he does it gladly for her.

Strongbow's preferred weapon is the longbow. Just like sending to words, the aim of a good arrow is much truer than a sword could ever be. A sword is just too clumsy, as he's experienced in the war for the Palace in the Original Quest.

It isn't surprising, as conservative as he is, he really doesn't care about his chief's new-fangled ideas. He'll challenge every procedure he thinks is wrong and is not according the way. He may be stubborn, but he's not stupid. He knows changes are part of nature, but he'll do everything to keep things the way they are, the way he thinks they're supposed to be. That's why he occasionally challenged Cutter, and he probably still does, but he seems to have calmed down.

As a rule, Strongbow hates humans, fire, lies, waste, extravagance, and folly -which means he detests Winnowill and Rayek. Though he himself is one of the more strongly gifted Wolfriders, he mistrusts overuse of the old powers and thinks all elves would be better off if they'd just follow "The Way".

Being the first Elf to kill another elf, Kureel - one of the Gliders - who had almost killed his son Dart, Strongbow could not go on until he received forgiveness from that said elf.

Strongbow has a thoroughly good heart encased in somewhat thorny wrappings.

(Note: Too nice an ending to mess around with.)
